ABOUT
Dr. Rick Latin is a professor emeritus of plant pathology at Purdue University, where he was a member of the faculty for more than 37 years. Dr. Latin’s research focused on turf disease control and factors that influence fungicide performance.
Rick has contributed educational seminars at GCSAA annual meetings since 2009. In addition to participating in local and regional conferences in the United States and Canada, Latin has lectured in Europe and Asia on the principles of fungicide action on turf. He authored many research papers, and the industry standard textbook, A Practical Guide to Turfgrass Fungicides—with the second edition due in early 2020.
In 2018, Dr. Latin was honored with the GCSAA Col. John Morely Distinguished Career Award and was recognized as a Scientific Fellow of the American Phytopathological Society. In 2019 he received the Distinguished Service Award from the Midwest Regional Turf Foundation.
Dr. Latin earned his B.S. degree at Waynesburg College, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees at Penn State University.
